Human Tone Manuscript Toolkit

Audit generic prose and verify LaTeX preservation after revision

Local-first application

The need

Academic rewrites can retain generic phrasing or accidentally change citations, numerical values and LaTeX structure.

Why it was developed

Provide reusable prose diagnostics and preservation checks while keeping scientific meaning and evidence intact.

How to use it

  1. Install Python 3. Keep your input manuscript outside the repository.
  2. Run python scripts/human_tone_audit.py --input manuscript.txt --out-dir tone_outputs.
  3. Revise the flagged passages manually; the generated findings are editorial prompts, not automatic scientific judgments.
  4. For a LaTeX revision run python scripts/latex_preservation_check.py --original original.tex --revised revised.tex --out verification_report.md.

How it can save time or money

Flags repeated phrasing and checks protected manuscript elements automatically, reducing repetitive searches and comparisons during revision.

These are potential benefits, not measured savings. Include setup, maintenance, review and local operating costs when comparing your own workflow.

Current scope & limits

No AI-detection evasion or score guarantee is provided. Scientific claims and citations still require human review. Manuscripts and generated reports are excluded.
