KLH CodeChef Student Tracker

Student ratings, contest history, snapshots, mentor reports and sheet writeback

Local-first application

The need

Mentors otherwise revisit student profiles and manually reconcile ratings, participation and section reports.

Why it was developed

Keep immutable local profile snapshots and reusable contest/mentor reports with optional Google Sheet writeback.

How to use it

  1. Install Node.js 24 or later. Run npm start from the repository, or start.ps1 on the original configured Windows setup.
  2. Open http://127.0.0.1:8765. Import a CSV containing roll_number and name plus optional CodeChef handles and section/mentor fields.
  3. Refresh selected profiles, review retrieval failures, and export filtered reports. Complete human verification manually if CodeChef requests it.
  4. Configure optional Apps Script writeback with your own workbook and secret; no real roster, database or writeback credentials are included.

How it can save time or money

Collects repeated profile checks into one workflow, preserves rating history and generates reusable mentor/section summaries instead of maintaining them manually.

These are potential benefits, not measured savings. Include setup, maintenance, review and local operating costs when comparing your own workflow.

Current scope & limits

Depends on CodeChef connectivity and visible public data; throttling and human-verification pauses remain possible. Optional Sheets setup is separate. Reports do not count passive site visits.
