SvaraCraft Music

Keyboard lessons, browser instruments and teacher lesson builder

Local-first application

The need

Keyboard learners and teachers need interactive practice and repeatable lesson activities in a browser.

Why it was developed

Create a keyboard classroom and teacher lesson builder that can reuse original exercises and browser-generated instrument sound.

How to use it

  1. Install Node.js 22 or later. Run npm start and follow the URL printed by server.mjs.
  2. Open Keyboard from the instrument catalogue. Follow KEYBOARD_GUIDE.md for controls, lesson practice and the teacher builder.
  3. The Node server is a frontend preview. Account-gated lessons require the Python backend and explicit local account configuration; frontend preview does not grant premium access.
  4. Keep live mail/payment credentials outside source control. Hosted billing activation is an independent operational process.

How it can save time or money

Reuses interactive lessons and original practice patterns; browser sound avoids sourcing a recording for every exercise and reduces repeated teaching-material preparation.

These are potential benefits, not measured savings. Include setup, maintenance, review and local operating costs when comparing your own workflow.

Current scope & limits

Only Keyboard is implemented as a playable instrument; other catalogue entries include concept pages. Accounts, premium grants, hosting and payment processing are separate. The captured working tree can contain development code beyond the deployed release.
